I am blender beginner. I found Blender has 2 renders, eevee and cycle. But I also find an Octane render in website. What are the differences among eevee, cycle and octane? Is octane an addon? Is yes, how much?
Well, yes and no. Octane is not for blender only, it's more of an engine in many 3d software. =7&t=72241#p366488, Octane uses the computer GPU to render, and it is like Cycles but a real-time raytracing, which means its acts like evee but produces renders like cycles. Evee is just a real time render engine which doesn't care about light that much.
More and more artists are turning to GPUs for rendering, which helps speed up the rendering process. One of the outstanding GPU render engines that has been widely used by 3D artists worldwide is Octane Render. It is the unbiased GPU render engine, delivering quality and speed unrivaled by any production renderer on the market.
Enables quicker convergence (noise reduction) for HDRi images by applying importance to certain areas of the HDRI so as to sample rays that resolve to the important areas more often than unimportant areas. This means the ray tracing is more efficient as it is not wasting time on rays that do not contribute much to the overall image quality. Due to the added complexity this will reduce the Ms/sec of rendering, but each Ms will be more effective, therefore resulting in a higher image quality in less time. Importance sampling is enabled by default.
Hope this has been useful for some, feel free to download share files & play with them. If you would like to read more about Octane Related related stuff, GPU rendering from software to hardware - feel free to visit tomGlimps.
At Creative Computing Solutions we recently ran several Render tests using four of the most popular Render software apps: Blender, Octane, Redshift & V-Ray. As you may know, Blender and V-Ray offer CPU and GPU render while Octane and Redshift are GPU-based Render apps.
But starting with Quake 3, that started to shift. Rudimentary support for geometry patches were introduced, allowing for the rendering of organic curves, which suited the art style of flesh and cathedral quite nicely. DOOM 3 carried on that tradition, this time with "unified" lighting. 2ff7e9595c
